The Hellingly Mental Asylum was opened in 1903 by George Thomas Hine in East Sussex, England, to relieve the overcrowding that existed in the rest of the asylums of the country. Hellingly closed his doors in 1994 because of a new medical treatments and a high maintenance cost.
